it could even get BMW/Audi to bring over their RS3 Avant/M3 Touring models, but now I'm just drinking kool-aid). (GR Corolla has the Golf R as a direct competitor, GR Corolla Touring would be in a class of its own. Obviously they proved to themselves that their hot hatches will sell, but with the success of the Audi RS6, it makes me wonder if Toyota is toying with the idea of releasing the economical, manual, Japanese answer to the German super-wagon. My question is this: with Toyota recently announcing the increase to production with the GR Corolla, and since the Corolla Touring wagon is based on the same Corolla that meets NHTSA requirements, if Toyota was feeling froggy, could they bring the wagon variant of the E210 over for just a GR edition? Or would they need to bring every variant of the wagon too (which likely won't sell) to meet regulations? When the GR Yaris was announced, tons of people explained why it would be a losing move to meet NHTSA requirements to sell 500 units of a car that was no longer available, but I don't know how this would be effected if the variant they'd bring over was based on a model currently sold in this market. I don't really know where else to ask this, but there are a lot of people in this sub that understand NHTSA/DOT requirements and what it takes for an automaker to bring a vehicle from one market to another.
